Boise, Idaho – The Pacific Northwest Section of SRM was well represented at the 2023 SRM Annual High School Youth Forum (HSYF) by two amazing students, Levi Kukes from Washington and Sylar Kleissen from British Columbia.
Levi Kukes gave a talk titled “Grazing land restoration in the aftermath of the Pearl Hill and Cold Springs fires”.
Sylar Kleissen gave a talk titled “Targeted grazing: a tool in wildfire management”.
Both talks were well presented and received.
Levi says “The High School Youth Forum provided a fantastic opportunity to learn about advancements in various range land fields. Hearing from young men and women similar to myself has sparked a new hope in me, for the future of conservation and ecological careers.”
Sylar says “I had an amazing time at the High School Youth Forum. It provided an amazing insight into the world of range management and the practices outside of my area. Speaking with others my age has helped me understand other points of view and gave me hope for the future of rangeland management.”
Both Levi and Sylar wish to thank the Pacific Northwest Section for supporting their attendance at the 2023 SRM annual HYSF.
Thanks also go out to all of the parents, teachers, mentors, and others who encouraged these fine students as they prepared for this adventure.
