Jim Brunner is the guy, who until 2 years ago was still returning to SE Nevada to monitor range plots he established in 1946. Last year Jim taught a filmed (4 cameras operating) class for an OSU rangeland watershed class and when asked how it went, exclaimed, “I sure hope I get to do that again, ’cause I know what I would do different!” He wrote and self-published Wildlands Workers Handbook, a definitive practical guide to ground work based on his years working and observing the range. He wrote a personal letter to all Southern Oregon SRM members, saying, “We could sure accomplish more on the range if we get an SRM chapter going down here and work together. What about it?” And they did. He writes about natural resource issues for several magazines. He is a reviewer for Rangelands. The PNW Section salute Jim Brunner for bringing out the best in all of us as we strive to steward the range.
