Who are the PNW Section Members and what Countries, States, and Provinces do they represent?
PNW Section is made up of members from British Columbia, Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.
The largest active chapter in our section is the BC chapter.
Many BC chapter members are not members of SRM due to the needs and values of BC Ministry professional licensing.
Membership will notice that we currently have no BC members on the board and few active members in the Section.
Is there a sustainable way to recruit and retain BC membership in SRM?

Section Based Online Forums and Webinars
Changes in the US administration have made border crossings of concern to foreign students wishing to present research to SRM membership.
BC Chapter members started the excellent “Students of the Grasslands” webinar series in recent years.
Oregon chapter members organize the Eastside Ecological Forum and are seeking speakers for regularly scheduled forums.
Students of the Grasslands Webinar Series, spring 2025 – PNWSRM
Eastside Ecology Forum
Would you be interested in presenting at either of these forums or webinar series?
We would be happy to connect you.

Washington Chapter Fall meeting Chehalis, WA
A small but active group of members and guests attended the fall meeting.
The planning team did an outstanding job in lining up tour visits with interesting topics and partnership presentations.
The amount of planning and attention to details the Washington chapter provided was outstanding.
Our smaller chapters have very few members to organize these details.
The Section is looking at moving to ONE ANNUAL MEETING per year to reduce this workload.

Future PNW Meetings-
2026 – BC Summer; Oregon Fall
2027- Washington Summer; BC Fall
2028 – OR Summer, WA Fall
The BOD will be asking the membership for their opinion in the coming months.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF: Many of you have skills and talents that would be welcomed in the PNW Section.
Would you like to serve the section as a director or committee member?
Attend our meetings to provide input and get a feel for the talents needed.
Our nomination team is seeking directors and officers each year.
Are you interested in being mentored to eventually serve on the executive board?
Please get to know the BOD and let us know your interest in serving.

WE WANT YOU! – We are interested in you and your talents as well.
Our section earned more than $36K volunteering on the Spokane 2025 planning team.
How should we use these funds sustainably to benefit our Section and its members?
How do we recruit and retain member interest?
Has the Section come to an end of its existence or is it of value to the membership?
Your input is important.
