Lauren Svejcar PhD

Lauren Svejcar grew up in Burns, OR and has worked in Rangelands since she was in
high school. She did her Master of Science between New Mexico and Argentina and
completed her PhD in Western Australia. Lauren returned to the US to work for the
Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center conducting research in rangeland
management and restoration. She is currently the International Year of Rangelands and
Pastoralists Global Communications lead and works to connect the IYRP efforts with
the Society for Range Management. Her key goal is to support local land managers and
elevate voices locally so we can all be heard at a global level, celebrating the unique,
diverse world of rangelands with all of our fellow pastoral peoples and rangeland
professionals. We are very fortunate to have someone as talented as Lauren in the
PNW Section to lead us into the 2026 International Year of Rangelands and
Pastoralists.

Congratulations, Lauren, on receiving the 2025 Pacific Northwest Section, Society for Range Management’s EXEMPLARY SERVICE AWARD!
