Hello PNW Members,
Since moving to Pendleton, Oregon, in 2016, I’ve worked to advance rangeland health, with
current projects focusing on grazing cover crops on dryland farm ground and developing
effective grazing management plans throughout Oregon and Washington. My aim is to help
producers enhance their operations and preserve the lands we all value.
As president, I am committed to strengthening our section by increasing membership, engaging
with youth, and encouraging new ideas that broaden our collective expertise. Following the
principles in Simon Sinek’s Leaders Eat Last, I aim to serve our members and highlight the
impactful work they do every day. Our section’s strength lies in the diverse skills and deep
experience of our members, and I look forward to ensuring those qualities are well-represented
and shared.
Looking ahead, I invite each of you to join us at the 2025 annual meeting in Spokane this
February. It’s an invaluable chance to connect, learn, and collaborate with rangeland
professionals from around the world. Let’s come together to show what the PNW Section has to
offer.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to serving this section.
Christopher Schachtschneider President, PNW Section
